A New Way to Support Black-Owned.
Inspired by Victor Green, Spicy Green Book is a volunteer directory for Black owned businesses that helps them receive complementary marketing services. SGB is establishing a space for people who seek to create change and creating a platform for them to invest in Black business owners in their own communities.
SGB reached out to me to help create a merchandise line for PR events and their online store. Together we worked to create an apparel and accessory line that paid respect to the history that inspired the initiative along with its timely relevance to today's wave of social activism.

To help Black Southerners during the Jim Crow era, Victor Green created The Negro Motorist Green Book. Spicy Green Book is an homage to his original creation, a guide that led Black travelers to a community of businesses throughout the US where they could eat, sleep, and be safe. Spicy Green Book builds on Green’s idea, empowering everyone to create and participate in a fairer, safer, more just society - and the apparel line aims to tell that story.
We worked together to create a visual system that referenced popular type and illustration from the 60's where the inspiration behind the brand was born while still alluding to current social movements that keep the brand relevant today.
Designing for E-Commerce
Following the successful launch of the merchandise items at PR events, we created more color and size variations for the best-selling apparel items on the organization's online store.
